Federico González Compeán

Director General · F1 Gran Premio de la CDMX

Federico Gonzalez Compean, a Mexican national, is recognized as one of the most influential leaders in entertainment, culture, and large-scale events across Mexico, Latin America, and Spain. With more than thirty years of experience, he has been an architect of industries and a driving force in positioning Mexico on the global stage. From an early age, he demonstrated both strategic vision and artistic sensitivity, leading landmark projects. He ushered in a new era by bringing to Mexico its first major international concert — INXS in 1991 — and later produced unforgettable shows with artists such as Madonna, U2, The Rolling Stones, and Billy Joel, establishing Mexico as one of the world’s premier live entertainment destinations. In musical theater, he was instrumental in bringing iconic productions to Mexico and Spain, including Les Misérables, Beauty and the Beast, Wicked, Mamma Mia!, Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar, and The Lion King, the latter selling more than 1.2 million tickets. In film, he led Altavista Films, spearheading a renaissance that elevated Mexican cinema to the global stage with acclaimed titles such as Amores Perros, Arráncame la Vida, and Voces Inocentes. Since 2014, he has directed the Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix, which has been recognized for five consecutive years by the FIA as Best Event of the Year — a milestone that showcased Mexico’s ability to compete at the highest international level. Colleagues highlight his demanding, perfectionist, and visionary leadership style, balanced with humanity, approachability, and an exceptional ability to nurture talent. Federico leads by example, inspiring and elevating every team he works with. He is also a husband and father of four, a role that enriches his life with purpose and balance. Federico Gonzalez Compean stands as a continental reference and a creator of opportunities whose work has left a lasting mark on the cultural and creative identity of Mexico.
